The Cordast Church congregation is a popular meeting place in the village as well as a popular destination for travelers. To improve the offerings for users and expand the facilities, this competition was organized. The renovation according to our design, include a reorganization of the community center as well as additional use of the upper and attic floors of the church for residential spaces and meeting rooms. The kitchen forms the heart of the community center and offers the possibility of being flexibly connected to the various rooms, creating great flexibility in the use of the ground floor. The church will receive an elevator to ensure handicapped access to the upper floors. These floors will contain residential spaces on the 1st floor and a community and meeting room in the attic. The implementation will follow building biology principles to create a nature-friendly and pollutant-free environment. The competition was conducted in collaboration with Jungheim Architects and won the 1st prize.
