Type: Experimental design for housing forms Place: Japan Client: Shinkenchiku Magazine, Japan Scope of work: Competition design Collaboration: Dario Negueruela, Sergio del Castillo, Samir M’hamdi Aloui Status: Completed, Special Mention and publication in the magazine
In this competition we designed a house where the function of the walls is replaced by light. The roof is perforated, filtering the incoming light. These perforations were carefully and elaborately planned so that at different times of the day, the light would shine onto the floor in specific parts, thus defining the spaces solely through light. This experimental design has opened up new ways of thinking for us – and hopefully for the readers as well - about light, space, and use of space. The project was awarded a "Special Mention" and published in the Shinkenchiku Magazine. The juror was Kengo Kuma.
